Orca - by Anna

Dear Senator

Have you ever been to a dolphin show where the trainer surprises you with massive beautiful orca doing amazing flips and other tricks? Oras don’t like doing these tricks. orcas should not kept in captivity. My first reason is that orcas should not kept in captivity is that orca’s that are taken away from their mothers are put into artifel families. Did you know that when orcas get depression they can go mad? I am not joking and when orcas go mad they will sometimes kill their trainer. and my last reason is that orcas lifespan is much shorter when in captivity.

My first reason is that orcas should not kept in captivity is that orca’s that are taken away from their mothers and are put into artifel families. Did you Know that the mom calls for the baby once they have been taken away from her she will use high pitch screams and whistles to try to call for her baby back and find them. Most of the time the baby orca will never see their mother again. After the baby orca is taken away from their mother they will be put in artifel families. In these artifel families the male orcas are attacked by females. You may go to a show where there is orcas and on the male orcas you might see teeth marks and scratches these scratches are all from there artifel families.

Orcas should not be kept in captivity because they kill their trainers. The first attack on a human I will tell you about is at sea land which closed down after Tilikum and to other orcas drowned there trainor when she fell in there tank during a show. Here's why they attack her, Tilikum was the orca who actually drowned her the other orcas sort of just circled around the atack. As I said in the last paragraph the females in the artifel families would attack the mals. Tilikum was a male and the female orcas would attack him this gave him agresion, onthor reason Tilikum had agresion was that his first trainor used punishment to train him. And the attack did not stop there he ripped apart one trainer who loved him apart and a man who thought it would be a great idea to go into Tilikum’s cage. After that there was one more attack not done by Tilikum.
Orcas should not kept in captivity orcas lifespan is much shorter when in captivity.Normally in the wild female orca’s live up to 100 years and male orcas live 50-60 years but in captivity both genders only live for 20-35 years. In the wild only 1% of male orcas have dropped fins but in captivity 100% of male orcas have dropped fins. You may be wondering what wrong with a dropped fin? Well a dropped fin is a sigh of an unhealthy orca that only male orcas have.

We should ban orcas in captivity because orca’s that are taken away from their mothers are put into artifel families. I am not joking orcas sometimes kill their trainer. and my last reason is that orcas lifespan is much shorter when in captivity.  Orcas are beautiful creatures so have a heart and ban them from captivity. Also you should know that I am not just writing this because I have to i’m writing it for the orcas.

Sincerely
Anna goodwin
